Senate bill (SB) 53, which already has passed the Senate, would require California residents to register themselves with the state, undergo a background check, get fingerprinted, and pay a state fee just to buy a box of bullets.
“SB 53 would require the purchasers of ammunition to register with the state Department of Justice (DOJ) prior to purchasing any ammunition,” a press release from the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action noted. Purchasers would be required to pay for the fingerprinting and the background check.
The bill states, “This bill would require the Attorney General to also maintain copies of ammunition purchase permits, information about ammunition transactions, as specified, and ammunition vendor licenses, as specified, for those purposes.”
Another Assault On Gun Rights
Supporters say the purpose of the law is to prevent individuals in the DOJ’s Prohibited Persons File from buying ammunition. Prohibited persons include felons, the mentally ill, and persons with restraining orders against them. Another bill in the California state legislature, AB 1014, would allow judges to issue a gun restraining order that could effectively put any citizen in the Prohibited Persons File, as Off The Grid Newspreviously reported. That bill deals with the mentally ill.
“Under existing law, a person who is prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm is prohibited from owning, possessing, or having under his or her custody or control, any ammunition or reloaded ammunition,” the text of legislation states.
Senate Bill 53 was sponsored by state Senator Kevin de Leon (D-Los Angeles), the president pro tem.
De Leon has a long history of supporting gun control legislation. In January De Leon introduced a bill that would ban plastic “ghost guns” that cannot be picked up by metal detectors and would restrict the manufacture of homemade weapons in California.
write me in south Carolina and I’ll send you bullets at cost….fk California laws…I am not bound by them..

If they take our guns the United States is going to change like Mexico . In Mexico not only the government taxes the people the mexicans president and the mexican politics send the cartels to text the business people and the poor people so much money they can afford and they borrow from relatives. A lot of times the cartels and the Mexican police kidnapped mom,s dad,s and children,s and they ask their relatives for a lot of money if not they will kill them and send you the pieces that’s what they say to pressure the family N end up doing it. In Mexico they don’t have guns to defend themselves . There was a small group in Michoacan name autodedensas off Dr Mireles they were defending themselves and their hometowns they found on cartel people cell phones video recordings politics meeting with the cartels . The Mexican government didn’t like this people were defending themselves against the cartels and the bad police and bad politics. So they arrested 87 people on Friday 6. 27.2014 . For defending themselves and for having weapons. The Mexican government sad ,45, 50 caliber RA.15, AK.47 . Grenade another weapons were weapons exclusive of the military so they took him away right now he’s in jail the Mexican police and military planted drugs n hot weapons to give him more time in jail so the people won’t have their leader to defend themselves. good people from the United States we should help him his name is Dr Mireles he’s trying to make a better Mexico where Mexicans can defend themselves you can find his videos on YouTube
