this could happen naturally with an x-class flare from the sun, it did happen in the late 1800’s and knocked out all the telegraph lines in the us and europe.
to think that it would only affect electric devices is true, except without those electric devices there would be no food dilivery and very little medical care. our cars have electronic/electric devices in them as does the big trucks, these would not function, and chaos would ensue.
