This is a real and present danger. We need to be protecting our power grid instead of arming our enemies.
Much of the grid is around a 100 years old. wouldn’ take much to knock it out.
Faraday cages will save most of your electronics. And keep old CB radio’s. powered by vacuum tubes. EMP has little effect on old radios but will fry integrated circuitry such as IC chips.
A low al$#%&!@*ude burst will be blocked by the land topography. But you explode one 100 miles or more up and the EMP can be catastrophic.
Then there’s radioactive fall out. You’ll have to keep track of the prevailing winds. If it’s heading your way it’s time to bug out to a “safer” location.
Russins have 50 Megaton bombs. And that was in the 60’s. It would not surprise me if they now have 100 Megaton bombs.
