All those questions could very well have the same answer: an EMP attack.
An Electromagnetic Pulse is a short burst of energy that has the ability to completely fry any and all electronics and can be brought about by a exploding a nuclear device at high altitude (North Korea is capable of doing this right now) or even just by a solar flare. Fear mongering at its finest. An EMP would not take down the entire power grid. What blows fuses is a power surge. Since EMP’s do not create excess power no fuses should be blown 🙂 if an electronic device is hit with an electro magnetic pulse. It may(or may not) temporarily shut down do to an electrical interference causing a hiccup in sense to the electrical current running through the device. This may temporarily stall your electronics. The only thing really to be concerned about is communication. An EMP will interfere with waves transferred through the air causing a possibly longer interruption in these types of devices. Long story short. If the power grid goes out…. It’s not the EMP’s fault
