This rat trap anyone can build. You make it once and it catches many rats.
A bucket, some peanut butter, a pipe and some water. Yup, that’s pretty simple.
One improvement suggested by someone using this trap is to add antifreeze to the water, which instantly kills the rats.

Do NOT use the antifreeze!! Dogs and cats are attracted to the taste and it will kill them! It would b a horrible death for someones pet.
Antifreeze is optional. The rats would ideally be dying via drowning. I hope patrons would opt out of the antifreeze as it attracts and kills non-target critters.
DOES NOT instantly kill- they would die a horribly painful slow death- the whole thing is barbaric
