This rat trap anyone can build. You make it once and it catches many rats.
A bucket, some peanut butter, a pipe and some water. Yup, that’s pretty simple.
One improvement suggested by someone using this trap is to add antifreeze to the water, which instantly kills the rats.

@ Brenda Mayfield, my parents have them and they are spotless. No trash is in garbage cans since my dad takes it to work and puts in dumpster.
