13 Jaw-Dropping Clinton Scandals

5)Bosnia Sniper Fire Claims

Clinton Sniper FireHillary Clinton has a tendency to embroider her memory of past events. As Senator, Clinton made a foreign policy speech on March 17, 2008 in which she described a trip to Tuzla, Bosnia, in 1996, back when she was First Lady.

“I remember landing under sniper fire,” Hillary declared. “There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.” This claim was one she’d repeated before, during her speeches in 2007, while campaigning for the Presidential office.

The only problem was that news footage (pictured above) showed her landing in Tuzla was entirely different than she described in her speech. Instead of sniper fire, Clinton was greeted by a crowd and an 8-year-old girl handed her a poem. There were no security threats to the First Lady, whatsoever.

When pressed on the lie after her 2008 speech, Clinton responded, “There was no greeting ceremony, and we basically were told to run to our cars. Now that is what happened.” But she was eventually forced to change her claim. She finally told the Philadelphia Daily News that she “misspoke.”

The next day, an exasperated Clinton said, “So I made a mistake. That happens. It shows I’m human, which for some people is a revelation.”
