Hillary Clinton was President Obama’s Secretary of State in 2012, when a U.S. special mission at the Consulate in Benghazi, Libya came under attack by Islamic militants. When the dust cleared, the attackers had murdered U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and U.S. Foreign Service Information Management officer Sean Smith as well as two CIA contractors, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty.

Despite repeated requests to the State Department for additional security in the months leading up to the attack, Hillary’s State Department actually cut back on security there.

Senator Ron Johnson, R-Wis. laid the fault at Hillary’s feet in his article published in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

“The State Department not only failed to honor repeated requests for additional security, but instead actually reduced security in Libya… Although no one can say with certainty, I firmly believe a relatively small contingent of armed military guards would have prevented the attack, and those four lives would not have been lost.”

Survivors of the incident say the delayed response from the CIA annex to the mission led to the loss of life. It was Clinton’s decision to house the CIA in a separate annex that resulted in the additional delay.

Eventually, de-classified documents showed that the Department of Defense reported the attack on the U.S. Consulate was planned and executed by terrorists linked to al-Qaida and the Muslim Brotherhood. In fact, the DoD discovered and detailed the terrorists’ plan 10 days in advance “to kill as many Americans as possible.”

Hillary insisted that the attack was an inevitable result of “rage and violence over an awful internet video.”

In fact, a video viewed as disrespectful to the prophet Mohammed had triggered protests in Egypt and other locations, but the DoD and the State Department had information on the terrorist’s planed attack. Hillary claimed publicly first that the attack was an angry response to the video and then later, she asserted that in the “fog of war,” sparse information led to the incorrect response to the attack. It’s clear Clinton was aware at the time of the planned terrorist attack, as she communicated this in emails to her daughter.

Clinton’s prevarications and lies about the affair were calculated to ensure Barack Obama’s reelection.

Representative Jim Jordan R-Ohio summed it up: “You can’t be square with the American people. You tell your family it’s a terrorist attack, but not the American people. You can tell the president of Libya it’s a terrorist attack, but not the American people. And you can tell the Egyptian prime minister it’s a terrorist attack, but you can’t tell your own people the truth.”
