The Rotherham scandal involved Muslim taxi drivers who would pick up children from day care services and then sexually abuse them. The children were told to keep quiet about the abuse, or else they or their family members would be harmed.
A fake tweet allegedly from the account of hard left-wing writer Owen Jones prompted Labour Party MP Naz Shah to retweet it with a message of her own:

Just how sick can one person get, to put the “good of diversity” above the right of sexually abused girls to speak out about the scandal.
Right thinking people everywhere who have to respond: to Hell with diversity. We’re talking about abused children here.
About eight minutes after her retweet, Shah realized the gross enormity of her mistake and deleted the tweet.
Unfortunately for her, and others who post inflammatory material on their social media accounts, her tweet lives on for eternity, having been captured on the Politwoops site.
Ms. Shah was first elected to Parliament in 2015. Her background includes information that makes her recent tweet particularly ironic.
According to her Wikipedia entry, in 1985 at age 12, she was sent to live in Pakistan because her mother believed that her current partner was planning to sexually abuse Naz and her sisters. The mother wound up fatally poisoning the man.
This current episode is not the first time Shah’s gotten tripped up on social media. In 2014, on her Facebook account, she compared Israeli policies to those of Adolf Hitler.
A year ago this past April, she was suspended from the Labour Party because of a Facebook post in which she advocated the relocation of Israel to the United States. She was reinstated by the party in July 2016.
The uproar over her tweet continues with some observers calling for Shah to resign from Parliament.

Before we go any further, there are a couple of things that we need to point out to keep any legal eagles happy.
- The original tweet was posted by a spoof account pretending to be Owen Jones, left-winger extraordinaire (@Owen_Jones84).
- Shah’s retweet was live for eight minutes in total, before she appears to have removed it. There is proof of this at the Politwoops site here.
