This video details how to make a super-efficient water heater thermo siphoning process. Not only are all the parts he uses cheap or free discards, the project does not need electricity or solar power.
To match this video you will need:
Copper Tubing
Stove Pipe
Water heater
Valves
And of course, water and something to burn.
See the process video after the break and then get started on your own source of endless hot water:
WOW, talk about the most inefficient and impractical way to heat water. I could understand using this society were to collapse, but nothing else.
I think that’s the point Ronald. Having the tools for when society collapses.
If you were using a wood stove to heat your home “in winter months” and had the copper coil or as some people use an auto radiator piped horizontally over your woodstove before your water heater it would be okay. For the rest of the year solar would make much more sense.
it needs “something to burn”. i.e. fuel. thats your cost……
Most heaters run on gas so the application is no more then a less efficient method, But if the grid goes down is is viable.
I use his same idea for hunt camp. We have as much hot water as we want for showers. Works like a champ…especially if you’re in an area that still allows open fires.

You have to burn the wood to get the heat. This is not endless. Good idea though.
One step forward and two steps back.
Even in the case of grid collapse, it doesn’t seem wise to use yesterday’s technology today. What’s wrong w solar water heat? A simple old school satellite dish painted shiny pointing at the same coil? Black pipes on the roof? Hell, save the coil for a still and I’ll be right over with a solar water heater!
